Joint Commission Standards Elimination Effective August 27, 2023

The Joint Commission will eliminate and consolidate a second set of standards following the first major reduction announced late last year. There will be 19 deletions or consolidations for Evidence of Standards Performance (EPs) requirements (26% reduction) specific to the Nursing Care Accreditation Program. Find the revisions and deletions here.
The results of a recent independent study Joint Commission-accredited nursing care centers confirms accreditation delivers an average lifetime return on investment (ROI) of 413%. That means for every dollar invested in accreditation, organizations saw that dollar returned plus $4.13 more. The revision and deletion initiative aligns with The Joint Commission’s commitment to ensure that accreditation provides an opportunity for return on investment.
